KPMG
Hello everyone so this blog post is about the KPMG trip that some of us went to. First we got on the bus and it's was kinda fun I sat next to Aye and we just talked and annoyed the people in front of us. When we got there we went in and we walked up and went into this room where the staff was. We talked for a little bit and then we got into groups, the groups were Earth, Water, Air, and my team Fire.
This guy named John took us to look around the office, the office was really big. Then we went back to the room and ate morning tea. We had some fruit, sausage rolls, and this fruit pastry thingy but it was really good though.
After that a lady named Christine she talked about what she wants to do. She goes to university in Pennsylvania so she is going back to america in about 2 months. After that then she gave us a drawing of a foot and we had to write how we wanted to help the planet earth.
Then someone named jack came and we did some science. one group make oobleck, the other group did how to put air into a balloon without using your mouth, the next group did which liquid would melt the ice the quickest, and the last group which was my group we tried to made the tornado that we drew and we tried to make it move without touching it. We did this quiz about the stuff that we learned though out the day. We had some lunch which was sliders, chicken tenders, spring rolls, these corn patties, and some fruit.
After lunch we marked the quiz, and team earth won by a half a point. We got these papers and we had to make our own planets. After that we got these lollies and an glow in the dark alien. We when back to school after that and I sat next to Finau.
I really liked going to KPMG and it was a really good experience and I hope to go again. Bye thank you for looking at my blog post bye!

Topic 4 - Floating and Sinking
Floating or Sinking - Buoyancy Experiments:
Aim/purpose: Find out what is positively buoyant (can float) and negatively buoyant, (cannot float), and to predict what the outcome of one object will be.
Definitions:
Float - On the surface of liquid, (most of the time, water)
Sink - Can not float and object goes under the liquid.
Semi-float - Where something can float but half of it is in the liquid, (between floating and sinking).
How something floats: It has enough air and isn’t too heavy.
How something sinks: Where something doesn’t have enough air, is heavy and dense; Thus, the object sinks.
Buoyant - The term for something that can float.
Negatively buoyant: Term for something that can’t float.
Positively buoyant: Term for something that can float.
Recording our buoyancy testing
Predicting what the outcome may be and if our predictions are proven wrong or correct.
Name of object | Size - cms L-W-D or diameter | Weight : gms | Composition (what it’s made of) | Prediction Float or sink | Buoyancy result |
Golf ball | 12.7cm | 45.76gms | Plastic stuffed with rubber | It won’t float. It seems a bit too heavy. | It didn’t float, (correct)! |
Tennis ball | 21.1cm | 54.40gms | Hollow inside, fabric outside. | Semi float. | It semi -floated, (correct)! |
Ping pong ball | 12.4cm | 2.29gms | Plastic, inside is hallow. | Float. | It floated, (correct)! |
Small marble | 5.7cm | 5.33gms | Glass | Float | It didn’t float, it sinked, (incorrect)! |
Big marble | 9.4cm | 20.43gms | Glass | Sink | It sinked, (correct)! |
Big lego | 3.7cm | 8.33gms | Plastic | Float | Floats/semi-floated, (correct)! |
Small block | 1cm | 0.50gms | Wood | Float | Float/semi-floated, (correct)! |
Medium block | 1.9cm | 3.80gms | Wood | Semi-float | Semi-floated, (correct)! |
Long block | 10cm | 19.41gms | Wood | Semi-float | Semi-floated, (correct)! |
Wide block | 14.1cm | 116.43gms | Wood | Sink | Semi float, (incorrect)! |
Styrofoam | 3.2cm | 0.15 | Styrofoam | Float | Floats, (correct)! |

Papatoetoe Cyclone
About 1200 homes in Papatoetoe were wreaked, most with out power, while 60 houses are uninhabitable. More than 20 fire crews from across Auckland are helping with the cleanup. RNZ reporter Katie Doyle was at the fire service at Freyburg Avenue in Papatoetoe this morning, she said it was carnage (which means that there was a lot of chaos, mess, and more ) and saying that their was a lot of damage too. She said that branches came off trees and a whole tree unrooted, there was so power lines that were ripped off.
Binpin Thakkar who lives on Hayworth Road, said his whole house shook, he said he could see roof tiles flying down his street, and there is broken glass from shattered windows everywhere. This all happened on Saturday the 19th of June 2021. Only one person got killed and his name was Janesh Prasad.
Hello everyone so this blog post is about the cyclone that hit Papatoetoe. I hope you enjoy looking at my blog. Thank you.
Information report about the Colosseum and Ancient Rome
WALT: I learned about the Colosseum and Ancient Rome
Ciao everyone. Today I’m going to be writing about the Colosseum in Rome. Here are a couple of facts about Rome and the Colosseum.
My first topic is about the Colosseum. The Colosseum is about 2,000 years old and it was build in 70 or 72 AD. The Colosseum is 12 stories long believe it or not, it is 620 ft, 189 meter long,512 or 156 meter wide, and 158 or 50 meter tall. The Colosseum is manly build with stone, bricks, concrete, and tuff. The Colosseum can fit 50,000 people!
My second topic is about the gladiators. Gladiators are professional fighters. Maximus Decimus Meridius is one of the famous gladiators. They didn't always fight to the death, and they weren't always slaves. The famous “thumbs down” gesture probably didn't mean death. gladiatorial bouts were originally part of funeral ceremonies. The animals gladiators fought were bears, rhinos, tigers, elephants, and giraffes.
My last topic is about the culture and history of rome. The Romans took many peoples and brought back from their wars. The clothes that people wore in ancient Rome was a short-sleeved or sleeveless, knee-length tunic for men and boys, and a longer, usually sleeved tunic for women and girls. Roman dance style were influenced by the various styles of Etruscan and Greek dance. Pyrrhic dances. Rome was found in 753 B.C. by Romulus and Remus. Romulus and Remus were the twins sons of mars, the god of war. Rome's era ended in 509 B.C. with the downfall of its seventh king, Lucius Tarquinius Superbus. Lucius Tarquinius Superbus had four kids, Sextus Tarquinius, Titus Tarquinius, Arruns Tarquinius, and Tarquinia.
So that’s all for today I hope you enjoyed reading my information report about the colosseum and rome bye!
This one of my information for this week. This information writing piece is about The Colosseum and Ancient Rome. Thank you for looking at my blog and I hope you enjoyed my writing.

Topic 3 - Trying out laboratory equipment
Hello everyone this is what we did at Tamaki Collage for Science. We used Lab equipment.
Aim or Purpose: 1. Measure an exact amount of sugar and dissolve in water to make a solution.
Thermometer
Weighing Machine
Stop Watch
Spatula
Pipette
Method: We placed a petri dish on the weighing machines or scales. We used a spatula to measure the sugar. We put the sugar into a 200ml beaker fulled with water and then timed it to see how long it would take. Then we did hot water. We did that until the the sugar dissolved. We used a thermometer to see the temp of the water. We used 10grams of sugar and 100ml of cold and hot water.
Results: Temp of cold water = 23
Temp of hot water = 80
Time taken by water to dissolve in cold water = 1.20
Time taken by water to dissolve in hot water = 16
